Demystifying Systems Engineering 1999

The presentation was first given in 1999, and is a product of its time: its intention was to take some of the mystique out of systems engineering. That mystique had been created by various "gurus" setting themselves up as experts, and by defence organizations choosing to keep their arcane methods confidential—for reasons of commercial advantage, as well as for security.

However, as the following video seeks to show, there is nothing mysterious about systems engineering. The trick is to remember that, in spite of the title, it is not engineering, and those old, trusted favourite engineering techniques and methods will not produce the right results.
